MARGARET AND HERMIONE was founded in Vienna in 2015 by Barbara Gölles. After studying fashion-design at Vienna’s University of Applied Arts under Raf Simons and Veronique Branquinho, Gölles worked for Alexander McQueen in London and later designed collections for Viennese hat manufacturer Mühlbauer. Her grandmother was Margaret.
The aim is to design swim- and sportswear that allows the customer to relish the feel of it, while at the same time knowing that they are wearing sustainable fabrics of the highest quality. The double layered swimwear is made with Italian fabrics from recycled fishing nets for long-lasting durability and shape retention. Every piece is handcrafted with love in Croatia.
Designed individually, produced sustainably out of fishing nets and, finally, styled with humor: bikinis and swimsuits by MARGARET AND HERMIONE put design, quality and sustainability on a new level.
MARGARET AND HERMIONE offers bikinis, swimsuits and sportswear whose fabrics are taken directly from the sea. The basic raw material comes from fishing nets which are no longer in use and which, derelict and floating in the sea, have a grossly detrimental ecological impact. These nets are fished from the ocean and subsequently processed into swimwear fabric of the best quality.
The mainstay of MARGARET AND HERMIONE’s ability to produce such sustainable swim- and sportswear is in their complete manufacturing chain. Each step of production is carried out sustainably, in transparent conditions and under strict quality control in Europe. From raw material to packaging, printed forms, hang tags and labels, everything is made from recycled and eco certified materials. Designed in Vienna. Handcrafted in Croatia with Italian fabrics, printed in Germany. Made with love.
